FESTIVALS

Llanelli Future Festival

This was the first eco festival to be held at the new Llanelli Millennium Site.  The event lasted 3 days, attracting around 10,000 people.  There were a range of activities aimed at promoting the environmental message in a fun and interesting way, and Sundance participated through offering advice and information on renewable issues, and giving people the chance to experience an alternative way to power a light bulb and CD player, as seen below:

We would like to note that there have been several attempts to hold a Welsh Green Gathering at the Llanelli Millennium Site, which have unfortunately failed due to opposition from local police and councillors.  As a result, the Welsh Green Gathering company have been forced to fold, removing any hope of a future Welsh festival.

There will still be a Big Green Gathering each year, and details of this and of the Llanelli Eco Festival can be found on the websites below:

Swansea Show

For several years Sundance have taken part in the Swansea Show, which takes place each year on the May Bank Holiday and has been the major eco festival in Swansea for the past 5 years, attracting over 20,000 people.  Each year Sundance have had a stall to promote the use of renewable energy, and we have helped out generally with making the show an interesting and enjoyable event.

Dragon Fire

This event was held at Llanberis, North Wales, during the week of July 10th - 18th 2004.  The aim of Dragon Fire is to celebrate renewable energy, especially biofuel, and to inspire and inform local people about renewable energy, as well as allowing people to share their views and network with other like-minded people.  There were courses, seminars, workshops, demonstrations, exhibitions, tours and hands on practice, all held beneath the rugged beauty of Snowdon.

For more information, please see the Dragon Fire website at: www.dragonfire.org.uk.
